I am an Afro-Caribbean woman, born and raised in the U.S. Virgin Islands. I am also the first person in my immediate family to achieve a college degree and to seek an advanced degree. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences in the Department of Biology at the University of Mississippi along with a Master of Education in Secondary Science Education from the School of Education at the University of Mississippi. My research studies apicomplexans in marine ecosystems.
