Jhan C. Salazar is a doctoral student at the Washington University in St Louis studying Ecology, Evolution and Population Biology. His research is focused on exploring the effect that temperature and climate have on the ecology and evolution of tropical lizards.

I’d read any of the books I have in my reading list

Passionfruit juice and guanábana juice! I love them

I don’t really know, I used to read a lot, but I don’t remember the names of most of the books I read

Either biologist or musician!

My family, my region, and the need to learn new things

Nature, one of my earliest memories was in the forest

It’s still nature, and I can add writing and collaborating

Falling asleep in the movie theater… Well, almost anywhere

Well, people say that I can sing, I think that’s my secret talent, although I don’t feel that I can sing

My dad said to me, before I went to the university: “don’t just be the best at something, be the best at what you like the most”. Now I know what he meant

I want to do a parachute jump!

Never give up because the way is culebrero; I have no idea how to translate that last word, sorry.

Playing some music or listening to Jazz; que viva la música (long live music)

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, I love HP movies!


30 What is the weirdest thing you’ve had in your bag?

I don’t know, I’ve carried preserve lizards after field work, but I don’t know how weird it is

Glass frogs! I love them!

Hard to say, I would say Jonathan Livingston Seagull, my dad recommended me to read that book when I was around 10 years, it’s the best book I have ever read

Hogao with tostones! And Sancocho, I really miss Colombian food

My mom’s birthday! The last time I went to Colombia was to celebrate her birthday

Tough question, I’m between guanába (soursop) and avocado

That some anoles scream! I didn’t know that. The ones in Colombia don’t make sounds, but when I went to DR, I hear one screaming, that was crazy!

That everything is free! I mean, not everything, but the Zoo and the museums are free
