Emilia is a RSCiTech Science Technician and a STEM ambassador. She completed her studies in Italy where she gained a Bachelor degree in Biology and a Master’s Degree in Microbiology and Virology. Emilia used to work as a Medical Microbiologist in hospitals in Italy and the UK, including the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham and the John Radcliffe in Oxford.

A few years ago Emilia decided to change her career and started working in Education, as a Laboratory Technician. At the moment she works at Sancton Wood School in Cambridge where she supports Physics, Biology and Chemistry and also she is involved in STEM clubs and activities for the primary school.

Along with her lab tech role, Emilia is also a STEM ambassador so she can promote science among the youngsters: she does hands-on workshops in local primary schools and she is always keen to take part in STEM events and projects.

Emilia is also on Instagram with the science page @emilia.science, where she posts videos and pictures of the experiments; the page has become quite popular and she has already collaborated with several science pages.

Emilia’s mission is to inspire the kids and make them passionate about science and willing to take science careers; she also actively supports the role of women in science and values such as equality and diversity in science.
