Evie is a postgraduate researcher – now at the University of Exeter (UK) – using genetic techniques to understand the impacts of land use change on insectivorous bat species. Currently her work is focussed on the expanding agriculture and urbanisation that has occurred in the deserts of southern Israel, but more broadly her interests lie anywhere where humans and nature impact one another.

As I have been in the lab recently, I’ve reignited my podcast addiction, so any and all of “This Podcast Will Kill You”, “Cautionary Tales”, “Revisionist History”, and “Something Rhymes with Purple”

Cancel the plans I’ve made.

Oxygen, food and shelter 😉

I always had my nose in one book or another, I think the sheer volume and disparity of what I read shaped me more than any particular tome.

A stage actress

18 What drives you and keeps you going?

I think primarily stubbornness (or to positive-spin that, resilience).

19 What got you excited in science?

My first love was chemistry and then genetics. I loved the neatness, the logic, and the rules.

The possibility of making a positive contribution to the future.

Terrible TV
