Sadly no 😦 but had several guinea pigs and rats as a teenager!

4 Do you have any science-themed home decor?

I made my own paintings related to my research, which are displayed in my appartment 🙂

7 Do you speak any other languages?

I am fluent in English, Dutch, German and currently learning Spanish!

8 If you could switch professions, what would you do?

I would love to be a teacher 🙂 (a different kind of scientist haha)

9 If you could switch science fields, what field would you want to work in?

I would love to be some kind of wild life biologist! Working out in the real field and all 🙂

10 If you got a plane ticket right now, where would it go?

Ireland! I have always wanted to go there, I have very romantic ideas about the place.

11 If you had one superpower, what would it be?

Time Travel and Mind Control are too scary for me. How about super speed?

13 It’s your day off. What do you want to do?

Put on some relaxing music and sing along. Also love to binge watch movies/ shows under a cozy blanket.

14 What are three things you can’t live without?

Spotify, Ginger (!!!), my brother

15 What beverage gives you life?

Sparkling water! (raised in Germany) and Ginger beer/tea/ale etc.

16 What book did you read in school that positively shaped you?

Igraine the Brave. It’s a childrens book, about a 10 year old girl who wanted to be a knight. I got it for my 10th birthday and you probably see where this is going..

17 What did you want to be when you grew up?

An actress. My brother and I would practice crying together & reinact random movies with one another

18 What drives you and keeps you going?

The idea that every day I can learn something different, meet new people and can become a better person. And maybe change the world for that matter.

19 What got you excited in science?

There is still so much out there we don’t understand yet. The idea that I could help learn new things, was soo thrilling to me!

20 What excites you about science now?

The same thing 🙂 Also, that I get to share this knowledge with people who are just as excited about the topic as I am

21 What is a guilty pleasure of yours?

Nothing guilty in it, but I love watching very bad shark movies (Two-Headed Shark Attack, Jurrasic Shark, Ghost shark.. maaany more)

22 What is a secret talent of yours?

I am extremely good in immitating people and all kinds of accents.

23 What is your favorite game?

Depends. I play computer & console, lots of board games and role playing games.

24 What is the last book you read?

The Gene by Siddhartha Mukherjee

25 What is one of the best pieces of advice you’ve received?

Righty tighty, lefty loosey (works every effing time)

26 What is something you’ve always wanted to try but you’ve been too scared to do?

Improve my singing. I LOVE singing, but I am terrified people would judge me.

27 What is the best advice for your 18 year old self?

You don’t peak in high school

28 What is the best way to de-stress?

Listen to really good music (alone) and scream along

The Witcher

30 What is the weirdest thing you’ve had in your bag?

Afraid that’s pretty boring.. They found a pair of scissors in my camera bag (?!?!) at the airport. No idea how it got there.

The dragon 🙂

I have many many favorites, but I think I will go with “The Hobbit” because I know every single page by heart.

33 What is your favorite comfort food?

Uuuugh.. really depends. I love pasta of any kind, honestly.

Midsummer night 🙂

35 What is your favorite plant?

My beautiful Bromelia at home.

36 What is your favorite science fact?

Bats can get incredibly old! (up to 40 years)

Rain on warm concrete

The EA GAMES logo starting up at the beginning of a game

I ALWAYS try. Try to be better, try to listen… hope to get better.

TORSO (it always has been, and people have told me that’s really weird)

One morning I poured myself some coffee and thought: I did this. I made it.
