18 What drives you and keeps you going?

I need food to survive and for that, I need money? Jokes apart, I think I am a very competitive person. I push myself to work hard no matter what I do.

19 What got you excited in science?

One of the things that got me excited about science, in particular biology is the biodiversity around us. During my high school, my biology teacher Mrs Rani Mathew had a huge influence on me (and many of my classmates). Her teaching style was so pellucid and entertaining that you would immediately fall in love with any animal or plant she was talking about. That’s when I decided I was going to study biology.

20 What excites you about science now?

We are getting close to figuring out the fly connectome i.e how all the neurons in the fly brain are wired together! This will let us understand the brain much better.

21 What is a guilty pleasure of yours?

Gossip Girl or anything scandalous

I am a good dancer
